North Carolina Pools & Exterior Hardscape
Pool, Patio & Paver Site Plans in North Carolina
Scaled site drawings for pools, pool decks, pavers, patios and exterior hardscape projects, showing placement, setbacks and relevant surface areas.
- Clear written sheet list
- Site and project details coordinated
- In-scope review comment support

Present the pool and hardscape layout as part of the whole site.
A proposed pool, patio or paved surface can affect access, existing landscaping, site runoff and impervious coverage. The plan should show what is existing, what is new and the relationship to parcel restrictions.
We work from available survey or lot information and proposed dimensions to illustrate the new work. Pool engineering, enclosure requirements and stormwater plans may require separate licensed specialists.
What your pool and patio drawing package can include
We define the actual drawings and documentation for your North Carolina project in writing. The examples below represent available scopes, not an automatic all-inclusive package.

Pool or patio placement
The proposed layout positioned in the property context.
- Pool or patio footprint
- Distance to structures and boundaries
- Equipment area if in scope

Hardscape and coverage
Proposed patios, paver drives and impervious surfaces.
- Material and surface types
- Area calculations where required
- Walkway and access relationships

Site coordination notes
Relevant site constraints and design references.
- Drainage or grading coordination notes
- Pool barrier context where applicable
- Setback and easement references
Scope clarity: Specialty pool engineering, professional landscape architecture and stormwater reports are separate unless contracted. Your final written proposal identifies the drawings, file formats and exclusions.

An organized sheet list helps explain the work, clarify what belongs in the package and identify specialty items that may need separate documentation.
Example document titles only. The authority having jurisdiction and written scope determine the actual sheet list.
Project types we help document

North Carolina review requirements depend on the site and work.
North Carolina zoning and construction review may consider pool placement, setbacks, safety barriers, electrical clearances and impervious surface limits. Drainage requirements vary by jurisdiction and the size of disturbed area.
Swimming pool shell calculations, bonding and filtration layouts, stormwater studies and permitting fees are specialized items that should be separately confirmed.
Project-specific zoning, adopted code editions and plan review requirements must be confirmed with the city or county. See the North Carolina permit plan guide. Our drafting work is not a guarantee of permit approval or a substitute for surveying and independent licensed professional review where required.

Frequently asked questions about pool and patio
Does a pool site plan include structural pool engineering?
No, not automatically. A site plan addresses location and site relationships; structural shell and pool equipment engineering can be separately scoped.
Can you calculate additional impervious area for my patio?
Yes, if relevant dimensions and definitions are available and included in the proposal. Local definitions of impervious surface must be confirmed.
Does this service include a survey?
A recorded plat or existing survey can be used as an input where appropriate, but boundary or topographic surveying is a separate professional service. The exact property documentation needed depends on the proposed work and jurisdiction.
Can the drawings be signed and sealed?
A North Carolina licensed architect or professional engineer may need to review, sign or seal portions of the work. Any required professional services must be specifically included in the proposal and accepted by that professional after independent review.
What if the permit reviewer requests changes?
Send written city or county comments. We assess corrections within the original contracted scope and identify extra services if the reviewer requires new disciplines, reports or changes to the original design. Permit approval remains with the jurisdiction.
